Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about Suzuki method lessons, practice, progress, and enrollment.
Getting Started
What age should my child start piano lessons?
Lessons can begin at age 3. For children under 3, our Sunrise Babies program is perfect.
What is the Suzuki method?
Children learn music like language through listening, repetition, and a nurturing environment.
Do I need to know music to help my child?
No! Parents learn alongside children and help at home.
Lessons & Practice
How long are lessons and how often?
Lessons range 30-60 mins, usually once a week. Sunrise Babies classes are 30 mins.
Do parents need to attend lessons?
Yes, especially for beginners. Attendance may reduce as children become more independent.
What if my child doesnβt want to practice?
We provide fun strategies, rewards, and guidance to make practice consistent.
Equipment & Materials
Do I need to buy a piano immediately?
Keyboards are okay initially, but a piano at home is important within the first month.
What materials are needed?
Students who can afford it are required to have an acoustic piano in their home before beginning lessons. Additional materials include Suzuki books, CDs, a metronome, and a practice journal. For students who qualify, the charity MusicLink offers assistance with materials.
