Sunset Suzuki Academy in Portland, Oregon is owned and operated by Karen Huffman. Karen has been immersed in the Suzuki method since age 6 and holds a Masterβs in Music Education (Piano Pedagogy) from Southern Methodist University. She has trained with leading Suzuki teachers across the U.S., Canada, and at Dr. Suzuki's Talent Education school in Matsumoto, Japan.
Karen has over 15 years of teaching experience, starting her private studio in Dallas, TX, and opening Portland Suzuki Piano Studio in 2015. In 2022, the academy expanded to include Suzuki Early Childhood Classes for ages 0β3. Karen is President of the Oregon Suzuki Association and an active member of the Oregon Music Teachers Association.

Suzuki Piano Lessons (Ages 3+)
At Sunset Suzuki Academy, our piano lessons nurture musical fluency, confidence, and empathy. Using the Suzuki Method, children learn music naturally, just like language. Parents play an active role in the early stages, helping their child develop a love for music that lasts a lifetime.
As students grow, they become independent, confident, and kind musicians. Our goal is not just to teach piano, but to cultivate character and joy in every child. "Beautiful Tone, Beautiful Heart."
Sunrise Babies β Suzuki Early Childhood Education (Ages 0β3)
Our Sunrise Babies program introduces your little ones to music from birth in a fun, interactive way. These classes engage both children and their parents, creating joyful early learning experiences.
